About
Hi, I’m Vanessa S. Reed — the artist behind Flos Aquae Designs. I create colorful, joy-filled patterns that end up on everything from quilting cottons and apparel fabric to wallpaper and home decor. My style? A mash-up of boho florals, retro geometrics, and playful influences picked up from travels and sketchbook doodles. If it feels bold, a little unexpected, and full of life — that’s me.
The name Flos Aquae means “flower of the water.” It comes from my love of nature and the organic flow you’ll see running through many of my designs. Sometimes a print starts from a garden sketch, sometimes from a memory of a patterned tile abroad, sometimes just from playing with shapes until something sings.
What makes this studio special is the way each design gets to live more than one life. A wallpaper pattern might also become a quilt star block, or a fabric blender might pull double duty as a set of cheery tea towels. I love that versatility — it means makers, decorators, and designers can all find something that suits their projects.
When I’m not designing, I’m usually daydreaming about color palettes, wandering with my sketchbook, or experimenting with new ideas for patterns.
Work With Me
Alongside my shop, I also license patterns to brands and fabric companies, and collaborate with interior designers on custom scaling and recolors. If you’re looking for bold, whimsical designs for your next project or product line, I’d love to connect.
